Project Brief

House Bizarria is designed as a series of interconnected spatial sequences that balance openness, intimacy, and atmosphere. The project explores the relationship between interior and exterior, guiding visitors through light-filled spaces and thoughtful transitions. Its design emphasizes continuity, contrast, and a subtle interplay between form and experience, creating an environment that encourages exploration, reflection, and discovery.

Situated on the outskirts of Bogotá, the house is immersed in a natural setting, allowing the architecture to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. The design takes advantage of its serene environment, framing views and enhancing the sense of openness.

Our Solutions
01.
Architectural Elegance
The architectural form is defined by pronounced pitched roofs and precise volumetric composition, conceived to address Bogotá cold climate while establishing a strong contemporary identity. The house is shaped as a series of unified volumes that balance protection, spatial clarity, and visual presence within its natural setting.
02.
Landscape Relationship
The house is positioned to frame views toward the surrounding natural areas and the lake at the front of the site. Exterior spaces are conceived as architectural extensions of the interior, creating a continuous dialogue between built form and open landscape.
03.
Technical Integration
The spatial organization allows for the integration of lighting, climate control, and technical systems without compromising the architectural expression. Technology is embedded within the design to enhance comfort and efficiency while preserving the visual clarity of the spaces.
04.
Interior Atmosphere
The interior design follows a minimalist language based on clean lines, controlled natural light, and balanced proportions. Spaces are conceived to feel warm and serene, creating an atmosphere of refuge that contrasts with the cold exterior climate.
05.
Material Expression
Stone and wood define the material character of the house, reinforcing its connection to the surrounding environment. These materials provide texture, warmth, and permanence, allowing the architecture to integrate visually and physically with the landscape.

The design approach is based on the relationship between architecture, climate, and landscape. Each decision responds to the site conditions of Bogotá cold environment, prioritizing protection, thermal comfort, and visual connection with nature. The project seeks a balance between contemporary architectural expression and natural materiality, creating spaces that feel both precise and warm, where form, function, and context operate as a unified system.

Design Philosophy

We deliberately blended the building with its context so that it “complements and enhances the natural environment, rather than dominates it”. We also embraced biophilic design: abundant daylighting, open sightlines to gardens, and water elements ensure the architecture connects users to the outdoors.

outstanding outcome
Contextual Architecture: The house establishes a strong architectural presence while remaining deeply connected to its natural surroundings, responding precisely to climate, landscape, and site conditions.
Seamless Indoor–Outdoor Living: Interior and exterior spaces are conceived as a continuous experience, enhancing daily life through direct visual and spatial connection with nature and the lake.
Climate-Responsive Comfort: The architectural form, material choices, and technical integration work together to provide thermal comfort suited to Bogotá’s cold climate.
Calm and Functional Interiors: Interior spaces offer a balanced atmosphere defined by simplicity, warmth, and spatial clarity, supporting both everyday living and moments of retreat.
Lasting Material Quality: The use of stone and wood ensures durability, timeless character, and a natural integration of the house within its environment.
