Villa Alma is conceived as a tropical retreat where architecture becomes a framework for living in close connection with nature. The project is defined by its balanced composition, generous outdoor spaces, and a refined palette of natural materials that enhance the sensory quality of the environment.

Project Brief

Villa Alma is a private residential project located in Curaçao, designed to respond to the tropical climate through an open spatial configuration and a strong relationship with the landscape. The architectural strategy emphasizes permeability, natural ventilation, and daylight, creating a house that feels integrated with its environment rather than imposed upon it.

The project explores the relationship between architecture, materiality, and lifestyle. Natural stone, warm wood, and light-toned finishes are combined to create a tactile and elegant architectural language. The spatial organization of Villa Alma is conceived as a sequence of indoor and outdoor environments that support both social interaction and moments of privacy, resulting in a residence that is simultaneously sophisticated, comfortable, and deeply connected to its context.

Our Solutions
01.
Architectural Elegance
The architectural composition of Villa Alma is based on clarity of form, balanced proportions, and a restrained formal language. The project expresses elegance through simplicity, allowing spatial relationships and material qualities to define its identity.
02.
Landscape Relationship
Villa Alma establishes a continuous dialogue with its natural surroundings. Gardens, terraces, and the pool area are integrated into the architectural layout, transforming the landscape into an extension of the living spaces and reinforcing the sense of openness and tranquility.
03.
Technical Integration
The project incorporates passive design strategies adapted to the Caribbean climate, including cross-ventilation, solar control, and optimized orientation. Technical systems are subtly integrated to ensure comfort while preserving the architectural purity of the spaces.
04.
Interior Atmosphere
Interior spaces are conceived as calm and luminous environments, where natural light and soft textures create a refined yet relaxed atmosphere. The continuity between indoor and outdoor areas enhances the spatial experience and reinforces the tropical character of the house.
05.
Material Expression
Materiality is central to the identity of Villa Alma. Natural stone, wood, and light-colored surfaces are combined to create a coherent and timeless architectural language, emphasizing texture, warmth, and authenticity.

The architectural approach is guided by the relationship between climate, landscape, and materiality. Each design decision responds to the tropical conditions of Curaçao, prioritizing comfort, visual continuity, and sensory richness. Villa Alma seeks to balance contemporary architectural expression with natural materiality, creating spaces that feel precise yet warm, structured yet fluid.

Design Philosophy

The design philosophy of Villa Alma is based on the idea of architecture as a mediator between human habitation and the natural environment. The project embraces openness, permeability, and spatial fluidity, allowing nature to become an integral part of everyday life.
